Not only will this help the kids in our neighborhood have a fun and safe place to play, but your volunteer hours also go towards our chapter with Royal Neighbors.
As such, we've identified a few key tasks and timeframes where we would like neighbors to come together and help out.
👉 As you view the areas below, keep in mind that if a babysitter is needed during that time, we can try to set one up for you! Simply check the related checkbox in the signup for below.
Removal of the Existing Playground
Time: Saturday, April 6th from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 4 people for 3 hours
This team will be dismantling the existing playground. We have explicit instructions to help. All materials will be dismantled and stacked in a pile to be removed at a later date.
We also need to relocate the Gaga Ball pit in order to prepare the site.
Tools Needed: Please indicate which tools you can bring in the signup form below. We will work on securing the remainder of what’s need
Excavating
Time: By April 29th
Volunteers Needed: 1 operator, 2 assistants
In what is probably the most childhood-dream-fulfilling part of this entire project, we'll need someone to excavate the area and prep it for the playground.
🚨 For this project, we’ll need to either borrow or rent the equipment needed to excavate the playground area. The area is 40’ x 40’.
In addition to taking direction from the operator, the assistants would be responsible for helping to remove grass and further level the area.
Installation of Playground Wooden Set
Time: Week of May 6th
Volunteers Needed: 1 person to oversee installation
Ever dream of wearing a hard hat and becoming a supervisor? This one is for you! A professional will come in and install the actual set (as seen in the main image), so not much is needed from this position aside from giving additional instruction to the installer and overseeing their work.
Installation of Toddler Play Set
Time: Saturday, May 11 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 5 people for 4 hours
Nothing too tough here. Just simple drilling and wrench work will get the job done, but the impact will be felt for years to come! This team is responsible for installing the smaller part of the playground that the toddlers in our wonderful neighborhood will use.
Tools Needed: Please indicate which tools you can bring in the signup form below. We will work on securing the remainder of what’s need.
Bench Installation
Time: Saturday, May 11 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 2 people for 3 hours
As your kids play, you'll definitely want somewhere to sit. This team will be responsible for getting those benches assembled.
🗒️ Details on what material will be needed coming soon!
Repair and Seal Gaga Ball Pit
Time: Sunday, May 12 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 2 people for 2 hours
This is the last part of the actual playground installation! This quick installation primarily consists of replacing bowed boards, relocating the Gaga pit back into the playground area, and applying the sealant so that it lasts for years to come.
All materials will be provided.
Install Landscaping Timbers, Fabric, etc
Time: Saturday, May 18 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 8 people for 4 hours
After the purchase of the needed materials, this team will prep our new playground by installing a boarder using treated landscaping posted. Instructions and materials will be provided. Landscaping fabric will also be installed to prevent those pesky weeds from showing through.
Tools Needed: Please indicate which tools you can bring in the signup form below. We will work on securing the remainder of what’s need.

Time: Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

The last step in getting the new playground all set up! We will have 800 cubic feet of mulch delivered and ready to be spread out over the 40’ x 40’ playground space.
With this out of the way, the last step is to get everyone together for the grand opening day!🎉
Conclusion
As you can see, this is a multi month process that won't be possible without your help. Fortunately, most of the tasks require time and effort, but no real expertise--so don't worry if you're not a master carpenter!
If any of the above teams sound like something you'd like to help out with, add your submission to the form below.
As always, thanks so much for helping to make our Windsor Crest community shine ⭐
